Fiction Day! - Trigger warning!

Wesk sat in his cabin, tinkering with his pistol. It looked like the springs needed to get replaced soon. The sound of the Ship at dock, quiet and morose tempered his good mood from the delivery. The ship was almost quiet like a tomb when it was powered down. Destro was off doing some maintenance and Gaile should be back soon. You could always hear the past too well in the quiet. The screams and gun-fire snuck in slowly, almost unnoticed until it was pounding in his ears.

Wesk opened his drawer and pulled out a new spring for the pistol. It was a good a time as any so far. Thumping started in the hallway outside the door. Wesk looked up, listening for more. It came up to the door and then the person on the other side started banging on his door.

“Hey Weskins! Its time for our victory party!” Gaile knocked on the door a third time” Grab your butt and let’s get out to Married Shelly’s. We did good on this one!” And off she thumped down the hallway towards her cabin. Wesk sighed, it looked like the hard part of the evening was coming up. Standing up and stretching, he went to get ready.

Married Shelly’s looked about as run down as he remembered. The dim glow from the bulb kept the doors illuminated, but the rest of the street looked like it was about halfway to a ruined wreck. Gaile pranced up in her very low-cut crop top she liked to drink in. With the rough landing this morning, and the good transport deal going through… It was going to be a rough night.

Inside, the stools and tables arranged around the main room were a hodgepodge of styles and quality from who knows where and when. Wesk grabbed his usual table in the corner, it was better for everyone if he stayed out of the way for the time being. Gaile went right up to the bar, waving at the thin woman filling drinks. “Hey Shellsie!” Gaile smiled, “The usual for me and for Grumpy pants back there.” She waived dismissively at Wesk. “Guy seems to think every rough landing is his personal failure.” Gaile started pulling out her card, while Shelly smiled back, “Of course Poppet, I’ll get it all going.” She turned around and worked her way over to the cook window. “3-alarm wings, hurry up!” Turning back, she picked a brown whiskey bottle from the top shelf. Setting it down with a small shot glass, she took the card finally, freed from Gailes pockets. “Here you go, Hun.” I’ll get your tab running.

Shelly worked her way through the crowd over to Wesk’s table. “Hey Wesk, how’d the trip go?” Wesk waived his hands back and forth. “The trip went like normal. The descent to planet side was a pain in the ass.” Shelly set down a basket of wings, a golden orange glow of hot sauce glazing over them. Next to the basket she put down a large beer mug filled with a clear soda. “You ever going to tell her, that you don’t drink?” Shelly patted his arm. “I don’t intend to anytime soon. This is her way of getting her head back after the job. I relax in my own way.” Wesk grinned “Besides, it’s not I’m here to keep her safe or anything.” Shelly rolled her eyes, “I know, just make sure its not to bad this time. I’ll be back with a refill later, you know all free of charge as usual.”

Gaile looked at the bottle in front of her. It was almost empty, so probably time for another, maybe see if the evenings entertainment was here. She waived Shelly over, “Hey, send me a beer, Please.” Shelly nodded, smile faltering. “Of course, Hun. Are you sure it’s something you want to do?” “I do.” Gaile giggled, “It’s time the fun part of the evening kicked up.” She looked around the bar, checking to see who might be interested in her. “It’s not like you don’t benefit from what I do either.” Shelly pursed her lips, “Fine, but please be careful. I don’t know what I’d do if something bad happened.” Setting down the beer, Shelly headed over to get some drink orders from a patron down the way.
The guy sidled up to the bar next to Gaile, ugly gold chain glinting in the bar lights. Wesk watched him strike up a conversation with her, looking more down her shirt than at anything else. Looked like a grade A Douchebag. Gaile seemed to think everything he said was hilarious, laughing after almost every line. Wesk grabbed his soda and downed the glass. It was about time to get moving. As Gaile looked away the man dropped something into the beer, it looked like Gaile didn’t notice They continued to chat as Wesk started stretching, getting ready to follow. Gaile kept almost but not quite drinking the beer. After a few more minutes, the man gestured towards the door. Gaile giggled again and got up to follow him. Wesk sighed and got up to start following.

Wesk meandered nonchalantly into the alley to the right of the entrance. Peering around, he saw the man holding her up against the wall. From a quick glance it would have been easy to think they were both happy and wanting some privacy. Gaile giggled again, “Geez, you look ready to roll mister.” The man grunted, still not noticing Wesk. “Lady you look ready to go too. I think you and I should have some fun.”

Coughing, Wesk stepped a bit closer. “ I’m pretty sure you should keep yer hands to yerself. You'll get into more trouble then you know.” The man looked over his shoulder “Look man, She’s ready to go. You should get in on this. Besides, I don’t think you can stop me anyway.” “Oh, I’m not here to stop you.” Wesk shrugged, “ I’m here keep you alive.”

“What the fuck does tha..” the man started, before Gaile pulled him close and kneed him in the crotch. “Guh.” he groaned, more out of surprise than pain. Gaile giggled again, watching him hit the ground. “That was for the mickey. Now, let’s get started.” She stomped his ribs, looking to break a rib. Wesk sighed, and pulled a cigarette out of his coat. “Hey, can we please make this quick? This is like the least favorite part of my night.” Gaile grinned sadistically, “You know how much this really lets me let loose and enjoy myself. But I suppose I can hurry up this time.”
The man was groaning, and half attempting to stand up, half to crawl away. Gaile pulled a taser out of her pocket and taking a second to let him get some distance, pulled the trigger. The man dropped and shook, electricity coursing through his body. “Crap, Lady” Wesk started, “ Did you up the amperage on that again? We can’t be killing anyone, whether they deserve it or not.” Gaile glanced sidelong at him, “Really? This piece of shit deserves what he gets.” She kicked him again. The man groaned in response but it was quieter, and it seemed he and consciousness were now long distance buddys. “Look, He got some what coming to him. He’s not going to try that here again anytime soon.” Wesk stepped up and took Gailes hand. “Let’s head back home.” Gaile thought hard, through the alcohol she was still processing. “Yeah, let’s go home.

Gaile woke up in bed, pain washing her brain. She had gone drinking last night. Still wearing the clothing, she had gone to the bar in, she hobbled over to Wesk’s cabin. She knocked on his door, loudly. The hangover reminded her what kind of idea that was. “Wesk!” she boomed, though more in her own head than anywhere else. “Hey, Wesk!” she pounded the door again. The hangover again reminded her to quiet down. “Hey, I didn’t kill the guy last night right?” she kept knocking. Eventually, the door opened up, and Wesk peered at her from the dark room with dark circles under his eyes. “No, you didn’t. Now let me go back to sleep.” He sighed, looking like he drank almost as much as she surely had. Gaile hugged him, hangover be damned. “Thanks for being the moral support again, Wesk.” And off she stalked to the shower, hoping the water would wash the hangover away.
