"This is literally the worst." Gaile looked at the pile of scrap formally making up the engine to the ship. "All I have to do is just repair the whole thing and we will be good. It's only the main component to get us airborne again so we can start making more money."
Wesk looked the scrap over, and tapped the side. A broken bolt shifted, then fell off with a loud clank. "I dunno, this looks like we need to go find a new one. The holes we got during the last dust up look like they went in some pretty important places." He picked up a catalytic converter and peered through the misshapen bullet hole on the side. "This seems kinda dead."
Gaile groaned dejectedly. " I know that! We need to scrounge up some funds, or we will be stuck in more ways than one." At least Wesk had not put any bullet holes in the life support. Gaile looked at the dent where one had gotten close but ricocheted. "Next time, please find a way to stop the bad guys without murdering stuff we need at the same time." She sighed morosely.
"I'll just let the Marauding hordes take the ship next time they come boarding. It's not like they won't be bullets if we ask nicely beforehand." Wesk smirked annoyingly. "I think I saw the bylaws for that at the last Pirate's Union meeting." Gaile glared at him, hoping he would at least cringe a little. When that didn't work, she flipped him off. "Yeah, yeah, I get it. Try to keep the collater'l damage down. You have to admit it was funny when I close lined the fella with the hose."
Gaile snorted despite herself. "Yeah, and we need to replace the coupling where it enters the manifold now. We're lucky we don't need to replace the whole hose!" She started unscrewing the damaged coupling from the port on the wall. At least the coupling stopped the fuel from leaking like it was supposed to. Last thing Gaile wanted to deal with was a fire in the engine compartment. Tossing the broken connection into the pile she started She moved over to start patching a hole that wasn't going to keep the whole thing from failing.
Wesk scratched the back of his head looking rather more confused than apologetic. "How's a guy s'pposed to know what's okay to bash a feller over the head? And don't say look it up, I got more important things do spend my time on." Gaile glared at him again. She had been about to say exactly that. "In any case" Wesk ignored her, "I'd rather be fixing a hole in a ship than a hole in a person." He prodded a stabilization core that hadn't survived the initial crossfire. "Asides, its not like this junk is all that important." Gaile's jaw ground.
"That Junk you're prodding is what makes the fuel ignite over time instead of all at once." Gaile shook her wrench at Wesk. Rather than look threatened by it, he looked confused again. "So if we don't have this" Wesk poked the core with a lanky finger again, "The fuel turns into a bomb?" Gaile groaned forcefully, "Yeah, so quit shooting at it!" "Next time I might do that."

Wesk followed Gaile in a large cart pulling a trailer. She was looking through a junk pile, hoping to get some parts for cheap before they headed over to the actual store to buy the junk they needed. Wesk looked over what they found so far. A doohikie, a thinger, and another hose. They didn't need the hose, but Gaile liked to pick out spares ahead time. She was crazy like that. Something gleaned in the pile nearby, and Wesk stopped to look. It looked like one of the contraptions still sitting in that pile in the engine bay. " Hey Gaile, does this contraption work for something we need?" He waived it at her. Gaile saw it and glared at him, trying and failing to make him feel guilty about the whole thing. Again.
Gaile looked the part over, then grinned. "Wow, that's a rare! This stabilization core is actually for the AX-1358 model." Wesk tilted his head in confusion. "That's the military grade version of our ship. It doesn't even have lots of wear on it! We will need to modify some ports on the ship when we get back, but this should help us get an extra boost to the fuel if we can keep it from getting any bullet holes." She sent a sidelong glance at Wesk. "Can we make that happen?" Wesk threw out his best puppy dog eyes routine. Gaile scoffed, putting the core contraption into the trailer bed.
Wesk looked at the small pile of junk filling up the trailer bed. He could name almost none of it. It's not like his job, or life for that matter, depended on knowing what any of this stuff was. While waiting, he pulled out his Glock special 3055. Checking it over relieved the boredom of being the driver for this little venture. This baby, at least was working as it was supposed to. with enough force to take down a man in light armor, yet soft enough to not pierce a ships inner or outer hull. Can't blame him for them being able to go through engine parts. Wesk sighed, "Still better to be pulling new parts than to be digging another grave." Gaile looked up from the Gizmo she was pouring over to see if it worked. "What did you say?" Wesk shrugged, "Just mumbling to myself over here. you got the hard work right now."
Gaile rolled her eyes and sighed, looking back to the thing in her hand. "If you're bored, maybe you can find some more parts for me to check over." Wesk grinned "Maybe I will, but we both know I was lucky to find anything so far." Gaile sighed, then flipped him off.
